Iberdrola / ScottishPower Renovables has inaugurated the Whitelee wind farm in Scotland. Europe's largest onshore windfarm project with an initial 140 wind turbines has officially been completed at Whitelee in Scotland. Whitelee windfarm will produce 322MW of electricity to power 180,000 homes. The 55km2 site, which is located 15km from Glasgow, will be extended to generate 130MW extra power.The connection to grid is realised via a new cable circuit to East Killbride South Grid Supply Point. The 3 x 275kV Single Core XLPE 1000mm2 cables and associated accessories for the Whitelee Windfarm Connection are monitored by LIOS DTS system, which provides online condition monitoring for this dynamically loaded circuit.
